What is the nature of the solvents used in Neways botanical extracts in personal care/cosmetic products?

  • Neways has historically used a variety of extraction solvents depending on the chemistry of the plant we wish to carry botanically active fractional components from.
  • In most cases, Neways attempts to use water as a solvent, but for those active parts of the extract which are not water soluble and vary by chemistry, we have to use alternatives.
  • If it is not possible to use water, Neways prefers to use glycerine as a botanical solvent, due to its natural origin and long term sustainability.
  • Since the 2007 SAB safety review of glycerine, Neways has been focused on using glycerine in these safety-conscious applications.
